ESP32 PCF8575 16 GPIO Expander Shield
Enhance your EST-PoE-32 project with our newly designed stackable shield, specifically tailored to expand your project's capabilities. The EST-PoE-32 is a versatile board, however because it has Ethernet for connectivity, that uses up quite a lot of the ESP32's GPIO pins - this stackable GPIO expander can give you access to more GPIO pins once again!
This GPIO expander is based on the PCF8575 GPIO Expander, a 16-channel I2C extension module. By connecting it via I2C, you gain the ability to send and receive commands to manage the GPIO pins, enabling you to set or read their states. While accessing GPIO through the expander may not be as swift as direct control, the difference—mere milliseconds—might not impact your project significantly. The setup needs just two I2C pins and permits the simultaneous use of the I2C bus with other gadgets or sensors.
This stackable shield is engineered to complement our EST-PoE-32 board, creating a powerful duo that maximizes your project's potential without the hassle of pin limitations. It's all about efficiency and flexibility—by integrating this shield, you unlock additional GPIOs.
- 16 additional GPIO pins
- Stacks directly on top of the EST-PoE-32, or can be used with a breadboard/standalone.
- Compatible with ESPHome, or Arduino and CircuitPython with the excellent Adafruit Library
- Passthrough headers for potential compatibility with future shields
