Note: Voice Preview Edition requires Home Assistant to operate. Weaker Home Assistant hardware can lead to slow speech processing. If you have lower-power Home Assistant hardware, you should offload speech processing to Home Assistant Cloud.

  • The easiest way to start with Assist: Just connect it to USB-C power (cable and power supply not included) and it will connect with Home Assistant via an intuitive installation wizard. No assembly required. 
  • The private voice assistant: Pairing Voice Preview Edition with powerful Home Assistant hardware can allow it to run fully locally, or offload its audio processing to the privacy-focused Home Assistant Cloud. It also includes a hardware mute switch that physically cuts power to the microphones.
  • Language support: Assist aims to support more languages than other voice assistants, but this is still a work in progress, and Home Assistant needs your help. Check the supported languages in the Home Assistant’s Assist documentation.
  • Advanced Audio Processing: Dual microphones and the XMOS audio processor cuts through noise to hear your voice clearly.
  • Visual and audio feedback: The multicolored LED ring displays when it's listening, volume levels, and more. Get sensor readings, timers and other feedback via its speaker. Connect an external speaker for media playback via its 3.5mm headphone jack.
  • Physical controls: The rotary dial lets you control volume and LED brightness, while the multifunction button can trigger Assist or be customized in Home Assistant.
  • Blends into the home: Its small, unobtrusive design is injection-molded giving it a premium look, and its tactile controls give it a premium feel.

Requirements: Home Assistant already configured on another device. 

For fully local speech processing, it is recommended to have a Home Assistant system based on an Intel N100 or higher. Weaker hardware will require a Home Assistant Cloud subscription for optimal speech processing performance.

Awesome. I liked it so much I bought another one!

Everythingsmart.io provided very fast service with next day delivery, and at the keenest price I could find. The Preview Editions are basic, and do not even have full Bluetooth on board, so need to be connected to my smart speakers with auxiliary cables. This works fine though. Where the Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition blows all competitors others away though is using an AI service as the Conversation Agent, enabling sophisticated and in-depth commands to be run to manage your home, all with a customised style. I get my assistant to speak in rhyming banter and sprinkle French and German expressions into its replies. This often has me laughing out loud, always has me enjoying it and it's like having a virtual friend to brighten your day. A voice assistant as quirky and nuanced as you are. What's not to love about it?

Great!

Still some improvements needed for sure but amazing work by the Nabu Casa team for what they've achieved so far. It's been a week without Amazon devices in the house and it feels great.

It actually understands my partner and I fairly well with the Alexa wake word when taking control of the device in ESPHome.

It also opens new automation possibilities as we're not locked in a system that with limited features that only cares about selling you stuff.

Also great service from EST, super quick dispatch and next day delivery. Thank you! 🙏

Brilliant

Remarkable - it can even pick up commands from an adjacent room sometimes! I really like the use of the LED ring for timers and visual response cues. And, of course, dealing with EST is always delightful. I've ordered lots of things from EST and have always had speedy deliveries and great service.
